To Be Yourself In A World That Is constantly Trying To Make You Something Else Is The Greatest
I’m guessing you’ve not really been feeling yourself lately. Or perhaps you’re not quite sure who yourself is anymore.
I want to say first that you are not broken, selfish or a terrible person. You’ve just got a little.. lost along the way.
My big secret; I got lost too, for a long time.
Life happened, as life always does. And now you wear so many different hats, and spin so many different plates, that you’re not quite sure which hat actually belongs to you and which plates are the ones you care about.
You haven’t been doing the things you love because you’ve felt like everything else has to come first. Your stuff can wait.
Which brings me to the first lesson from the world of HIMA. It’s quite a simple one but it might just be the lightbulb moment you need.
Everything we do is based on our feelings and all of our feelings come from the way we think.
If we change our thought processes, we can impact our feelings and lead to amazing changes in our lives.
There was a girl who wanted to lose weight. She dreaded the idea of going to the gym but had every good intention, made all the plans and tried to create positive habits to get herself to the gym. When it was time to go, she stayed home instead.
She thought ‘it won’t make a difference anyway’. And this single thought led to a feeling of dread at the idea of the gym; this feeling consequently led to her not going.
Of course our thoughts aren’t always in the forefront of our mind. Our subconscious has a huge part to play.
I am Sam, creator of Here I Mum Again. A Space which, originally had no intended direction has become a hub of self care, productivity and mindset growth.
I can’t start my day without coffee, my go to hair do is scrapped up bun & done and I never understood how beautiful the sound of silence was… until I had kids!

Blah.. I know it sounds cringey as hell but I really don’t have another way to put it.
I adopted a mindset 6 years ago which completely changed my life.
When I tried to lose weight after having my first baby nothing worked for me. I’d tried all the ‘fad’ diets when I signed up for something different.
I was dubious at first (no food was out of bounds!) but within about a month a switch flipped in my head. I realised in order to make life long changes I couldn’t stick to a ‘diet’; I had to change my diet to reflect the lifestyle I wanted.
I lost 5 stone over the next 12 months, started a weekly gym habit, found a love for spinning that I still harbour today, but most importantly I FELT amazing.
Not because I was physically changing but because I had changed my mindset.
I could eat less. I could get fit. I could keep up through that whole cycle class (ouch!).
One positive thought had a huge knock on effect on my entire life.
And that’s what I want for you too.
